Senate approves revised Indian tribe agreement
[letsreview postid=\"$id\"]

Sacramento, California state officials are busy figuring out a new deal with an Indian tribe in charge of a well-known California casino.

Gov. Jerry Brown is in talks with the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians in order to change an agreement that was initially implemented in 1999 and is due to expire in 2020.

According to the revised 20-year-old act, the Indian tribe is allowed to operate 1,800 slot machines. This is 200 machines short of what the original agreement stipulated. The tribe’s territory is set about 50 miles southeast of Sacramento and is comprised of 18 voting members.

The casino resort owned by the Indian tribe currently employs about 1,200 workers. At the moment the casino operates about 1,650 slot machines, 36 table games, and offers dining services and other accommodations thanks to its 5 restaurants and 86-room hotel.

Following the Assembly’s review, the act was granted approval and was forwarded to the California state Senate. The Senate agreed with the act’s resolutions and finally approved it as part of AB475, on Monday.
